Vintage camphor trunk

As soon as it got open, the pervasive smell of camphor wood just attacks directly to your senses.  This opulent design filled with intricate carvings details spare no effort to create a breath taking impact for the collector in complete awe. It could have been used by a wealthy family or a high ranking officer in China.

 Elaborately detailed, the trunk has been crafted from camphor wood and features exquisitely  carved relief decoration showing birds in natural surrounding, All 5 sides are carved in birds and  peacocks  with cherry blossom. . A lot of intricate detailing has gone into the creation of this beautiful trunk,. Camphorwood was used in the manufacture of travelling trunks as the wonderful scent given off by the wood repelled  insects and bugs.

Condition:  excellent , with age appropriate patina, very little sign of use.
